Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight predictions: Boxing experts make decisions

play

The wait for Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul is almost over and the fight appears to have captured more than just the boxing world's attention thanks to the popularity of the headliners involved and the genuine curiosity about what this spectacle might look like on Friday night at the AT&T Stage.

The 58-year-old Tyson was last in the ring in a friendly match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. His last professional fight took place in 2005. His last professional victory was in 2002. The original date of this fight against Paul had to be postponed due to Tyson's health problems.

Paul, 27, has turned his YouTube stardom into a lucrative boxing career in recent years and his company is producing the event, which will be streamed exclusively on Netflix. This will be just his 12th career fight (10-1 record) and his first at heavyweight.

When Tyson and Paul finally step into the ring on Friday, it will be harder than usual to pick a winner based on previous results. The intrigue has prompted many boxing legends to take a stand now that fight week is here, including some of Tyson's past opponents.

Here are some of the latest tips and predictions ahead of Tyson vs. Paul on Friday, November 15, as well as current odds and how to watch this made-for-streaming event:

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul predictions

Bob Arum, Top Rank CEO: Paul wins

“A 58-year-old, no matter how good he was, no matter how athletic he was, is not going to be able to fight,” Arum said in an interview with Johnny Boy Boxing last month. “You can't throw.” If you throw punches like you're supposed to, you can't do a lot of things. I hope Mike doesn't get hurt, but I really don't give him a chance. As you get older, you lose your muscle memory.

Lennox Lewis: Tyson wins

“Mike Tyson will win. He's not that old yet. Don't take him too gently. “We’re a year apart,” Lewis said in an interview with FOX 29 in Philadelphia last April. “You can fight someone like that and get good results because the person you're fighting is not a real fighter and there are a hundred things you have to do.” I forgot he's learning.

Roy Jones Jr.: Tyson is ahead

“It is a young lion and an old lion. It’s a great situation for them,” Jones said in an interview with FightHype in September. “It gives Jake a chance since Mike is his age. I think it’s a great opportunity for both fighters, but I still think Mike will be a bit too much for Jake.”

Anthony Joshua: Jake Paul's youth is too much

“The only thing I’m worried about is father time. That's the only thing that's never been beaten, and Tyson, he's older now. But I pray he comes out healthy. I think Jake Paul because of his youth. That’s the only thing – because of the youth.”

Buster Douglas: Easiest win of Tyson's career

“It’s not going to be good for Jake,” Douglas said in an interview with Gambling Zone in June. “I don’t think Paul will have much left of his boxing career after this. I think once Mike gets rid of him, that's it for his boxing career. The best case scenario for Paul is to just hold out the whole fight, he says. “We went the distance with Mike Tyson.”

Tyson Fury: Must support Mike Tyson

“If Mike Tyson hits someone, I don’t care if he’s 90, he’s going to knock them out, right?”

Sports Betting Dime: Paul by decision

“Going into the later rounds, Paul’s combination of youth and cardio will make the difference. Look for Paul to use his jab and footwork to keep Tyson on the outside. The heavier 14-ounce gloves and two-minute rounds will likely work against Iron Mike, potentially dulling his explosiveness in the second half of the fight.
