Birmingham man faces murder charges after shooting on Pearson Avenue in October.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham police say a man has been arrested in connection with a murder that allegedly occurred in October.

According to police, on October 30, 2024, 37-year-old Andrew Blake Carter of Birmingham struck Melvin Burkes in the 1700 block of Pearson Ave. shot.

Carter turned himself in to the police. At the time of this article's publication, he was in the Jefferson County Jail without bail on two charges – murder and attempted murder.

According to police, Carter shot two people during an argument with Burkes and a third person, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, before fleeing the scene.
