Man arrested in Sherman for possession of child pornography

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – On Monday morning, the Grayson County Sheriff's Office arrested 25-year-old Harvin Esquivel Quintanilla on a charge of possession of child pornography.

This arrest was the result of a search warrant served at a residence in the 800 block of East Wells Avenue in Sherman.

“This search warrant resulted from an investigation involving media exploitation of children,” said Lt. Jeremy Cox of the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children originally received a tip from a social media provider about a user who was submitting child pornography.

“This was assigned to our investigators and they investigated the matter, followed up on all leads, identified a suspect and executed the search warrant this morning,” Cox said.

The sheriff's office says combating this type of crime is a top priority.

“The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has a limited number of law enforcement personnel,” Cox said. “It is so important and we receive these cases so frequently that we have assigned two investigators to look into it.”

With danger just a tap away, Cox says the best way for parents to protect their children is to communicate with them regularly and keep an eye on what they do on social media.

“This is not a dark corner of the internet where you have to search and find and that’s where only bad things happen,” Cox said. “This is your social media platform that your child is on every day.”

They say it's a serious situation, especially locally.

“Just because it doesn’t always get national attention doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen,” Cox said.
