Wheel of Fortune Mistake: Contestant makes a hilarious mistake

Social media can't get enough of a “Wheel of Fortune” contestant's hilarious trick with a pretty simple puzzle.

On Monday night's episode, a contestant named Will incorrectly guessed the riddle “_ _ _e _ourse_f a roun_ of a_ _ause” as “Treat yourself to a round of sausage.”

The answer, solved right after his guess, was, “Give yourself a round of applause.”

“Will, I kind of like yours better,” joked host Ryan Seacrest.

In a social media video with Wheel social correspondent Maggie Sajak following the episode, Will said his mind “just went blank” as he tried to solve the puzzle.

“But if your retired dad watches the show, maybe drinks a beer and laughs, it's worth it,” he told Sajak, the daughter of former host Pat Sajak. “I'm sure I'll have sausages in my locker and in the police car when I get back.”

Near the end of the clip, Seacrest stopped by to ease the shock and sign a cue card for Will's family. “Don’t worry, you’re already benefiting from it,” said Maggie Sajak.

Some social media users pointed out that it wasn't the best performance from any of the night's contestants.

“It wasn’t just this round. It asked for a K for the word “five” and a K for “stare.” The last round was also an embarrassment for all players and the bonus round was so bad. “No one was on their A game,” one Instagram user wrote.

Others, however, were fairly forgiving of the mishap.

“Kudos to Will for being a great sport and making us laugh along with him!” another wrote.

Will's guess probably wasn't as much of a disappointment as a viral misguess earlier this year, when a participant guessed “_ _ n'_ l_ok aw_ _” as “don't look away.” Although attendees and even Vanna White cheered, the actual answer was, “I can’t look away.”

“Everyone congratulates everyone,” Pat Sajak said as participants reacted with dismay. “And: We get to keep the money!” he joked.

Seacrest took over from Sajak in September after the “Wheel” icon retired in June after more than four decades and 8,000 shows.
