Randall High School student arrested after making false bomb threat

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – A Randall High School student was arrested after making a false bomb threat, according to Amarillo police.

On Tuesday, police said a student alerted staff at Randall High School after seeing a post on social media about a possible bomb in a school bathroom.

In response, police said the school was placed on hold while officers investigated.

Officials and school staff concluded the device was counterfeit and that there was no danger to students or staff.

After an investigation, police believe 17-year-old Cesar Alcocer has been identified as the person who made the hoax report.

Alcocer was booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge of falsely reporting a bomb threat.

“The Amarillo Police Department takes all threats seriously and will continue to fully investigate any incidents that could jeopardize the safety of our schools and community. We are committed to holding those who make false threats accountable, and we remain committed to protecting our children and ensuring the safety of our public spaces,” the police said in a statement.
