The only thing we can do now is fight and get six

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The magic number is six. That's how many wins the Maryland Terps football team needs to become bowl eligible.

With only three games left this year, the 4-5 Terps must win two of their final three games this season.

That makes this Saturday's game against Rutgers as close to an outright win as possible.

“Of course this is an important game for us. An opportunity for us; We still have two home games and one away game. This is playoff football. That's kind of what I told our team. “It’s our version of the playoffs,” says head coach Michael Locksley.

It's been two weeks for the Terps in which they have lost their last two games.

They recently traveled to Eugene, Oregon to face the number one ranked Oregon Ducks and lost 39-18.

However, the loss hasn't dented her confidence

“Many things can be corrected. Many details are corrected. We feel like we can play with anyone and I think that's what I took away from this game. “We made a lot of mistakes,” “and we found ourselves in this game, and I think when you do that, it shows that every game is a winnable game for us,” redshirt junior running back Roman Hemby said .

“There are no downers in the locker room. Every head is in the right mental space. Like I said, we're just scratching to get wins. That's where we are now. We didn’t expect to be here,” but we are here. The only thing we can do now is fight and get six,” said senior linebacker Ruben Hyppolite.

Getting to six requires stopping Rutgers, which is just one win away from bowl eligibility after picking up a win over Minnesota.

“We competed against them, but they were a team that relied on their ability to run the ball, their field position and their great special teams,” Locksley said.

The Terps haven't had a home game since October 19th. Coach Locksley and his boys hope for an exciting environment.
