Metro Crime Stoppers is urging anyone with information about the East Parkway murder to come forward

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham police investigators have completed their report into the shooting that killed a grandfather, but need witnesses to come forward to help them find the shooter.

45-year-old Enrique Cortes Martinez was killed on Roebuck Parkway; His five-year-old grandson was in the truck when it happened.

Homicide investigators have completed their preliminary report, but officials say they have nothing new to release as the investigation continues.

Martinez's family members are grieving and did not want to speak at this time.

Officials say the victim was driving on Parkway East Monday morning when a driver pulled up next to Martinez and shot into the truck.

Birmingham police confirmed that Martinez's grandson was also in the truck at the time of the shooting. He is reunited with his family.

Bob Copus of Metro Crime Stoppers says he wants justice for the little boy and his family.

“No child should have to go through this. It is something that will occupy the child for the rest of his life. “So let’s at least take some of the fear and tremendous stress that is on this child and get this person off the streets,” Copus said.

If you share something that leads to an arrest, you can earn up to $5,000. All you have to do is either call Crime Stoppers or share a tip on their app.
