Jalen Rose's reaction to Erik Spoelstra's timeout mishap goes viral

Former NBA player Jalen Rose apparently had flashbacks on Tuesday night.

After Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra called a timeout he didn't have against the Detroit Pistons, Rose's reaction was captured on television. A Detroit native, Rose was probably thinking back to the 1993 NCAA title game. At the time, Rose was playing for the Michigan Wolverines. Teammate Chris Webber infamously called a timeout when none was available, allowing the North Carolina Tar Heels to shoot free throws to put things away.

Rose's face quickly went viral on the internet.

“In the end I just made a serious mental mistake,” Spoelstra said. “That's on me.” I feel terrible about it. There is no excuse for this, I am 17 years old. We talked about it in the group. I knew we had nothing. I just became emotional and reactive.”

Not everyone took aim at Spoelstra.

While TNT's Charles Barkley acknowledged the mishap, he was more concerned that the Heat allowed the Pistons to tie up the previous possession with a backdoor alley-oop with 1.8 seconds left.

“[Spoelstra] “I was so mad because that couldn’t happen with 1.8 seconds left,” Barkley said. “This can't be happening.” You can't pass up a dunk with less than two seconds left, so he was emotional. I love some spo. He made a mistake, no big deal. He made more good ones than bad ones. How the hell can you pass up a dunk with less than two seconds left?
