Suspect arrested in connection with murder of 88-year-old

crime

Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Unit have arrested and charged 48-year-old Fabian Newsome with the murder of 88-year-old David Newsome on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the 12000 block of Sandalwood Lane between Colesville and White Oak.

According to police, “Officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:56 p.m. and found David Newsome deceased with obvious trauma to his body.”

The elder Newsome was taken to the chief medical examiner's office in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be performed to officially determine the cause and manner of death.

During the course of the investigation, investigators identified the deceased's son, Fabian Newsome, who also lives at the scene, as a suspect.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Fabian Newsome was arrested by the US Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was transported to Central Unit where he is charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bail.” A photo of the suspect was not included in the initial press release.
