Menifee High School teacher arrested after altercation with student

MENIFEE, Calif. – A teacher at Menifee's Heritage High School was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child molestation after she allegedly assaulted a student on campus.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Stacey Lynne MacPherson, 54, was taken into custody at the high school at 26001 Briggs Road. She was cited and released a short time later, jail records show.

Menifee police, who made the arrest, released a statement Tuesday evening.

According to the department, a school resource officer was notified of suspected child abuse on campus at approximately 1:46 p.m. Tuesday.

“The investigation revealed that there was an argument between the teacher and the student,” the police said. “The student suffered a minor injury in the incident and did not require medical attention. The teacher was arrested for child abuse.”

No further information about the incident was released.

MacPherson has been a teacher for more than 25 years, about half of that time at Heritage. The high school is part of the Perris Union High School District. A statement from the district was not available at the time this report was published.

Riverside County court records show MacPherson has never been charged with a crime in the county.
