Dickinson Police release 2023 crime statistics

DICKINSON, N.D. (KFYR) – Dickinson police report crimes against people increased in 2023 after declining for several years.

Officials say simple assault cases increased 32% in 2023 to 246 cases from 186 cases in 2022.

Personal crimes such as aggravated assault and sexual assault also increased slightly from 2022 to 2023, but there were no murders in 2023.

The Southwest Narcotics Task Force also seized a record amount of fentanyl. In 2023, officials seized more than 35,000 doses, more than double the 15,500 doses seized in 2022.

The department also went through some restructuring as Police Chief Dustin Dassinger retired after 11 years as chief.
