Woman accused of killing cyclist in fatal drunk driving and hit-and-run appears in court

WILLIAMSTON, SC (FOX Carolina) – A woman accused of killing a bicyclist with her car is requesting bail for the second time.

On Aug. 21, the Anderson County Coroner's Office said it received 911 calls reporting that a man had been hit by a car while riding his bike.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said an SUV was traveling east on Firetower Road near Mountain View Road in Williamston when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound bicyclist.

The cyclist was identified as 59-year-old Anthony Catalfomo.

Catalfomo's death was initially ruled an accident, but police said the charges against the driver, Leeann Moore, were upgraded to driving under the influence causing death and hit-and-run.

After being denied bail in September, Moore is expected to appear in court again to request her release from jail.
