School bus driver injured in accident on Briley Pkwy.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Emergency crews and Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a school bus accident in West Nashville Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Briley Pkwy South near Centennial Blvd.

A spokesperson for Metro Nashville Public Schools confirmed that three students were on board the school bus when the driver crashed into a wall on Briley Pkwy. The students were on their way to Hillsboro High School. According to MNPS, they were not injured.

The school bus driver suffered injuries in the crash and required treatment, MNPS said. She was transported to the hospital.

All southbound lanes of Briley Pkwy. were closed so that emergency responders could treat the injured driver and cleanup crews could clear the wreckage. Motorists will be detoured off the highway at Centennial Boulevard. However, as traffic backs up on Clarksville Pike, commuters are urged to find alternative routes.
