Man arrested for car theft at Zachary train station, resulting in one person being shot

ZACHARY, La. (WAFB) – Zachary police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a carjacking at a convenience store and subsequent shooting.

According to police, officers arrested Corey Brown, 30, on Tuesday, November 12, and charged him with auto theft, attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a dangerous weapon or device.

The carjacking Brown is accused of occurred on Monday, Nov. 11, at the Gate City Convenience Store on Highway 19 near the Bristol Apartments.

According to police, officers responded to reports of gunshots near this apartment complex on Lower Zachary Road, where they then located a carjacking victim and another victim of a gunshot that was the result of an altercation following the carjacking.

The shooting victim was treated at Lane Regional Medical Center for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Brown was also charged with simple criminal damage to property and aggravated assault with a firearm, although other warrants were unrelated to ZPD.
