Father arrested in hit-and-run death of his 2-year-old daughter in Kinston

KINSTON, N.C. (WRAL) — Kinston police have arrested and charged a Kinston father in connection with the death of his 2-year-old daughter in a hit-and-run accident.

At approximately 7:56 p.m. Friday, emergency services, including Kinston police officers, responded to a call at the Carver Courts Apartment Complex regarding a hit-and-run involving two pedestrians.

When officers arrived, they found two-year-old Gynie Wade and a 35-year-old man with serious injuries. Gynie was taken to UNC Lenoir Hospital, where she later died. The man involved in the incident was injured but survived.

According to police, the incident occurred after an argument in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Gynie's father, 35-year-old Rashaun Wade, fled the scene in a pickup truck, striking both his daughter and the other man.
