Man arrested in connection with shooting at Essen Lane gas station

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an October shooting that left one person injured.

According to Baton Rouge Police, 22-year-old Michael Anthony Miller III was arrested on the following charges:

  • attempted second degree murder
  • illegal use of a weapon

According to police, on October 12, 2024, a victim was shot at a gas station at 5857 Essen Lane. At the beginning of the investigation, the motive and perpetrator were unknown. After further investigation, investigators were able to identify Michael Miller as the suspect.

On November 12, 2024, Miller was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Because Miller was uncooperative, a motive for the shooting could not be determined, police said.

Authorities added that Miller has a criminal history that includes charges of simple burglary, theft of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle.
