A Virginia woman wanted for murder was arrested while working in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A woman wanted for murder in Virginia was captured while working in Jackson.

A multi-agency fugitive investigation into murder suspect Akea Faison of Portsmouth, Virginia, was closed Tuesday after she was on the run for 20 months, according to the U.S. Marshals.

On March 5, 2023, the 33-year-old suspect was allegedly involved in a robbery on Dale Drive in Portsmouth in which two men were shot and died from their injuries.

On Tuesday, Faison was spotted working in the 100 block of West Northside Drive through surveillance footage, which led to Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force investigators taking her into custody.

She was wanted on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Faison is being held at the Madison County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Virginia for a court appearance.
