Erie police are continuing their investigation into a car-pedestrian accident in an Eastside neighborhood on Halloween night that seriously injured a 38-year-old woman.

The accident was reported on October 31 around 7:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of East 37th Street. According to Erie police, the woman was walking in the middle of the block between parked vehicles when she was struck by a 2003 Acura traveling west on East 37th Street.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment, said Sgt. Thomas Dunmire, an Erie police accident investigator.

Dunmire said a 59-year-old man driving the Acura stopped after the crash in the 1200 block of East 37th Street and is cooperating with the investigation. The man told police he was driving when he suddenly accelerated and braked but was unable to stop, Dunmire said.

Erie police seized the man's car and conducted an inspection as part of the ongoing investigation, he said.

Anyone with information that could help Erie police in the ongoing investigation into the accident is asked to call Dunmire at 814-870-1171.
