Alligator was discovered by Michigan State Police during a drug raid

ECORSE, MI – Law enforcement executing a search warrant Tuesday encountered a crime of a different magnitude than expected as an alligator was found in the home. Michigan State Police didn't provide much information about the alligator other than to say it was turned over to a local animal shelter.

Members of the Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET) conducted the search as part of a federally funded project that also included the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Police seized over 500 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of heroin, six grams of cocaine, 371 grams of various pills and nine firearms. A suspect was arrested at the scene and the case was referred for prosecutorial review.
