Gun incident reported at Shelby County High School leads to suspension

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An incident involving a gun has led to a lockdown at several public schools in Shelby County.

An email from the Shelby County Public Schools Superintendent's office said school district administrators were told around 9:30 a.m. that “a threat with a weapon was made in the area of ​​Rocket Lane.”

Police were notified of the threat and schools in Rocket Lane were placed on soft lockdown while an investigation was launched. At 10:30 a.m., all schools in the district were placed on high alert. Schools on Rocket Lane, including the Milestone Academy campus, remained closed.

According to school district officials, the threat is unfounded at this time.

According to a Jefferson Community and Technical College spokesperson, KCTC's Shelby County campus is not affected by the lockdown.
