89-year-old arrested and charged after shooting in Oxford, police said

OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) – An 89-year-old man was arrested and charged after shooting and killing someone Tuesday morning in Oxford, Mississippi, according to the Oxford Police Department.

Police responded to the shooting just before 6:50 a.m. on Herman Drive.

At the scene, officers discovered a victim who had been shot.

Despite life-saving efforts by OPD, Oxford Fire Department and EMS, the victim died at the scene, according to police.

Herman Slack, 89, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

This is an ongoing investigation.
