A 21-year-old Boynton Beach man died in a boating accident in the Florida Keys Saturday morning, state officials confirmed.

Authorities have identified the man as Eytan M. Genoune.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Genoune was one of two passengers aboard a 34-foot Nor-Tech boat near northern Key Largo.

Investigators said the vessel was heading south near the Card Sound bridge, which connects the Keys to mainland Florida, about 10:30 a.m. when a sudden turn threw the boat's operator and both passengers into the water.

Good Samaritans pulled the operator and one of the passengers from the water and both were taken to a hospital for treatment. However, Genoune died when he was recovered from the water, FWC said.

The agency said the incident was still under investigation and it would release a full report once its work was completed.

Since his death, several tributes to Genoune have been posted online, including on the fishing website Fish Bluewater. In it, Genoune was described as an excellent and respected tournament angler.

“In honor of a young man whose spirit was as limitless as the sea he loved, we saw him shine through his passion for the water,” the organization wrote on its Facebook page.
