The fugitive accused of abusing a federal agent may be in Hernando County

Law enforcement officers in Hernando County are searching for a man who allegedly abused a federal agent.

Officers from Hernando and Pasco counties, as well as U.S. Border Patrol agents and state troopers, were in the area of ​​Church Road and Spring Lake Highway Wednesday morning searching for the suspect, who was not named but is described as an adult Hispanic male.

A witness in the area said the man may have been picked up by the drivers of a silver Chevy truck on Spring Lake Highway. The couple then drove north on Spring Lake Highway.

Authorities attempted to stop the suspect in the area of ​​I-75 and Blanton Road on Tuesday. They said he initially stopped but then ran away.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.
