Knoxville police are investigating the fifth fatal motorcycle accident in less than a month

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Knoxville Police are investigating another fatal motorcycle accident, the fifth since late October.

The accident occurred Tuesday night around 7:45 p.m. on Western Avenue at Knoxville College Drive. According to communications manager Scott Erland, the motorcyclist was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour when he struck a pickup truck.

The truck had just turned from 21st Street onto Western Avenue before the accident.

The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
