A 63-year-old man has been charged with murdering his girlfriend, said Delaware State Police, which first reported the murder more than four months ago on Wednesday.

Gregory Bratcher, of the Camden area, was arrested last week and charged with the murder of 72-year-old Marjeanne Lande.

Lande was found dead June 30 by state troopers who were asked to conduct a welfare check on the woman. According to police, Lande was found at her home in the 200 block of Apple Blossom Drive in the Magnolia area called The Orchards.

Her body was seized by the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, which concluded she was the victim of a homicide. Police did not immediately say when the department determined Lande had been killed by someone else.

Investigators determined Bratcher killed his girlfriend, police said.

Bratcher was indicted by a Kent County grand jury on Nov. 4 on charges of first-degree murder and strangulation and was arrested four days later on Friday.

Following his arraignment, Bratcher was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to post $1 million bail.
