Buffalo Bills have some concerning injury updates ahead of Wednesday's showdown with the Chiefs

Orchard Park, NY – Buffalo Bills right tackle Spencer Brown and tight end Dalton Kincaid were injured last Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and neither will practice on Wednesday.

Brown suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter during Buffalo's 13-play touchdown drive that secured the victory over the Colts. He missed eight games and then returned and finished the game. Kincaid injured his knee in the second quarter, left the game and returned, but had to leave again in the third quarter.

Bills coach Sean McDermott said he was confident Brown could practice this week, but the team was just taking it one day at a time. If Brown is unable to compete on Sunday, third-year senior Ryan Van Demark will take his turn. He entered Sunday's game in Brown's place and impressed. On wide receiver Khalil Shakir's 30-yard reception that extended the drive on a third-down play, Van Demark's hustle was on display as he pushed down the field with several key blocks.

After the game, Kincaid said he thought he could play with the injured knee, so he decided to give it a try. He attached a brace to it, but it still didn't feel good enough to play with.

“It didn’t feel good enough to run and protect myself,” Kincaid said.

If Kincaid can't go, the Bills will rely even more on “replacement” Dawson Knox. The two Bills tight ends have played similar snaps this season (Kincaid is at 61% and Knox is at 57%).

On Monday, Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady said that Knox, the No. 1 tight end in Buffalo before Dalton Kincaid was drafted in 2023, can do his job.

“Dawson is the No. 1 tight end,” Brady said. “We are fortunate to have several tight ends that can do a lot of (different) things. … (Dawson is) a great leader, a great football player and full of confidence when he's in there.”

The Bills opened linebacker Matt Milano's 21-day practice window on Monday, and he will be able to practice on a limited basis on Wednesday. Wide receiver Amari Cooper missed the last two games with a wrist injury and will be almost limited on Wednesday. The Bills are holding a walkthrough practice as they begin preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs.

McDermott ruled out wide receiver Keon Coleman for the game as he continues to recover from a wrist injury. The Bills didn't place the rookie on injured reserve, but he won't practice on Wednesday either.
