How an argument led to a shooting

On Thursday, November 7, at approximately 6 p.m., Detroit officers responded to the area of Seward Street and Second Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries on Monday, Nov. 11, prosecutors said.

The 32-year-old woman was taken privately to a hospital.

There is said to have been an argument between the 15-year-old and the 14-year-old, which escalated, with the 15-year-old pulling out a gun and firing several shots.

He struck his mother in the right arm, and the 14-year-old was shot in the head, left arm, right hand and left thigh.

Detroit police said this fight stemmed from another fight between a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old. Older children and the mother of one of the children intervened, then the mother's 15-year-old son appeared and fired shots.

The teenager had fled the scene after the shooting but was arrested by officers involved in an undercover operation outside of that shooting.
