The Oscar-winning actress, 57, reportedly had tears in her eyes as she reflected on the incredibly fruitful period of her career and coping with her mother's absence.

“I wish my mom was here,” she told THR. “That would be the only thing I would say. Everything is going great at work, but I wish my mom was here.”

Nicole learned of her mother's death shortly after she arrived at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where she was scheduled to accept the best actress award for her work on “Babygirl.”

Instead, the thriller film's director, Halina Reijn, accepted the award on her behalf while simultaneously announcing the death of Nicole's mother.

“I am in shock and have to go to my family, but this award is for them,” Nicole wrote in a statement read by Reijn.

“She shaped me, she guided me and she created me. I am extremely grateful that Halina allows me to tell you all her name.”

“The collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”
