The Chiefs quarterback added that it was “something you didn't want to happen to anyone, really.”

The crime occurred less than 24 hours before the Chiefs took on the New Orleans Saints Monday Night Football Game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

According to a police report obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday, November 12, officers from the Cass County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the athlete's eight-acre property after Mahomes' security guard called police.

According to the police report, there were no signs of forced entry into the house.

Less than 48 hours later, at 7:33 p.m. on Oct. 7 during the Chiefs' game against the Saints, a break-in occurred at the home of his Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce in Leawood, Kansas, according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE.

In that burglary, Leawood police reported $20,000 was stolen and a back door was forced open.

Patrick and Brittany bought the property on which they built their “dream home” in September 2020 Architectural Digest. In the summer of 2023, the Mahomes family moved to the site, which is about a half-hour drive from Kansas City.

In addition to the residence, it features a 50-yard football field custom-embossed with the Mahomes logo, a pool with a swim-up bar and a par-3 golf hole.
