Review of the Golden Bachelorette finale: Joan is engaged to Chock

Joan Vassos picked up a Neil Lane Diamond in the final of on Wednesday November 13th The Golden Bachelorette.

After sending home Guy Gansert Joan, 61, became engaged at an early age Chock Chapple.

“Ever since our first date at Disneyland, I thought I saw a future with you, and it's the first time in a long time that I've imagined a future with someone else,” Joan told Chock, 61. “And then A tragedy struck you and your family.” Mom died and you had to leave. I wanted you to go, but I was very afraid that you wouldn't make it back, and that's when I realized that I wouldn't be able to make this trip without you.”

“I waited until this moment in this amazing place to tell you that I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you,” she continued as Chock got down on one knee.

Chock, an insurance salesman from Wichita, Kansas, was an early frontrunner for Joan, scoring the first one-on-one date of the season.

“We started talking and never stopped,” Joan previously gushed Us weekly Cover story. “It was so easy – to the point where the producers said, 'Hey, enjoy the atmosphere.' You only talk to each other.'”

Joan was previously married to her husband John for 32 years. He died in 2021 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The two shared four children: Nick34; Erica33; Allison30; And Luke28.

“I felt like I didn't feel as safe as I used to when John was alive,” Joan said Us. “I thought: ,[Chock’s] a person who will make you feel safe again.'”

Chock, for his part, was married to his ex-wife Heather for 12 years, filed for divorce in 2012. They have two children together: Taylor25, and Tyler23. He was engaged to his partner of nine years, Kathywhen she died of brain cancer in 2022. As she mentioned in her final speech, Joan and Chock's happy ending was almost cut short when he briefly left the show because his mother died.

“I knew in his heart he wanted to come back, but I knew he would find something at home that wouldn’t allow him to come back,” she said Us. “And being a really upstanding guy, he wouldn’t leave his family who needed him. So, to be honest, I was really scared that he wouldn't come back. Thank God he did.”
