An Okaloosa man is facing multiple charges after a domestic violence incident was caught on camera

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. – A 38-year-old man was in the Okaloosa County Jail Thursday on charges of assault, false imprisonment and resisting an officer.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said David Johnson was seen on Sept. 8 at the Dollar General on Hwy. 90 in Holt grabs and pushes his girlfriend out of the store. He tried to drag her into his vehicle using the rear driver's side door. The victim tried to escape.

According to OCSO, the store's exterior cameras captured the situation. A witness also saw all this and verbally intervened, telling Johnson to let the victim go. He then pushed her to the ground and drove away in his vehicle. She had a small wound on her left elbow.

According to the sheriff's office, Johnson was not located at the time he was scheduled to be questioned about this incident.

According to OCSO, Johnson and his girlfriend got into a verbal argument on Oct. 23 on Wilderness Landing Road in Baker. The two lived in a vehicle at the campsite.

During the argument, Johnson grabbed his girlfriend by the mouth and shook her head, according to the sheriff's office. When he grabbed her mouth, her teeth cut into her lip – causing her to bleed from the mouth. They fled the area soon after.

Both the victim and a witness who observed the incident identified Johnson as the attacker, OCSO says.

According to OCSO, officers discovered Johnson at his vehicle shortly afterward. But he ran into the forest and refused to surrender. A K-9 team was deployed and found him.

Johnson is now in the Okaloosa County Jail without bail. He also faces drug possession charges.
