According to police, a parent was arrested after stabbing the principal multiple times at the elementary school

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ/Gray News) – Authorities in Ohio say a man has been arrested for stabbing an elementary school principal.

According to the South Point Police Department, officers were called to South Point Elementary School on Thursday in reference to a stabbing on campus.

South Point police said Principal Bill Christian was stabbed multiple times at the school by a parent, later identified as Joshua Collins.

Officers managed to subdue Collins at the scene and first responders rendered aid to the injured principal.

No children were harmed, but Christian was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Collins was also taken to an area hospital for arm injuries. Once released, he will be booked into the Lawrence County Jail on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Authorities did not immediately say what caused the stabbing but said their investigation was ongoing.
