Brooklyn baseball coach arrested for alleged sexual abuse of teenage players

A Brooklyn baseball coach has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing seven of his teenage players, the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office said.

The coach, identified as Nicolas Morton, 31, of Park Slope, was charged with a 20-count indictment. Morton was the head coach at Packer Collegiate Institute.

The Brooklyn district attorney's office said he was accused of:

  • Second degree sexual conduct towards a child
  • Third and first degree sexual abuse
  • 13 cases of endangering the welfare of children
  • Two counts of forcible touching
  • Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said Morton regularly made sexual comments during his travel team's practices and in other situations, repeatedly insisted that players show him their genitals and touched their private parts on multiple occasions.

Gonzalez said the players are between 12 and 14 years old.

At times, Morton allegedly refused to let athletes stop difficult conditioning exercises unless they exposed themselves to him, Gonzalez said. The DA's office said Morton allegedly threatened several boys on the team if they disobeyed.

The prosecutor's office said rumors began circulating among the players' parents in July 2024.

“The disturbing details of this case highlight the lasting harm such behavior causes to vulnerable youth, and we are committed to holding this defendant fully accountable,” Gonzalez said.

Morton's employment was terminated in August. He is scheduled to return to court on December 13.
