Life-threatening injuries have been reported after a scooter crash in West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – A man riding a scooter was hit by a car Thursday evening.

Police said the scooter collided with the car near First Ave and Mix Ave.

The identities of those involved were not revealed.

The fire department performed life-saving measures on the driver of the scooter and transported him to the hospital. Police don't know if he was wearing a helmet.

The current condition of the scooter driver is unknown.

According to police, a witness told officers that the car did not stop after hitting the scooter and drove away.

First Ave. from Richards St. to First Ave. I-95 entrance ramp is closed until further notice.

The WHPD Major Accident Team is currently investigating the incident.
