Man faces charges after an incident in Hamilton left one dead and one injured

A man has been charged after a man died and another was injured in South Lanarkshire.

Police said 36-year-old William Copeland and a 59-year-old man were found with serious injuries in the Burnbank Center area of ​​Hamilton at around 3.50pm on Monday.

Mr Copeland died at the scene and the 59-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

According to police, a 56-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is expected to appear in court in due course and provide a report to the Crown Prosecution Service.

“We will continue to increase police presence in the area as we know an incident of this nature could be very distressing and worrying for people in this community.
