Where does Domantas Sabonis rank in the NBA preseason MVP power rankings?

After setting records for his double-double abilities last season, Domantas Sabonis finished the year eighth in MVP voting. The year before, Sabonis finished seventh in this prize race. Where is he likely to place this year? And does he have a legitimate chance of winning the league's most prestigious individual award?

It seems the NBA world doesn't have much confidence in Sabonis' chances of taking home the award. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Sabonis' MVP odds are the 24th-highest odds at +25,000, trailing Jimmy Butler and Paul George (two players who often miss a lot of time in the regular season).

FanDuel even puts him behind fringe All-Stars like Tyrese Maxey and Paolo Banchero, as well as his own teammate De'Aaron Fox (more on that in a moment).

I have to admit. I'm a little shocked that Sabonis isn't rated higher in sports betting, especially considering he finished in the top 10 in votes each of the last two years. Sabonis is also a very good regular season player and rarely misses a game (missed three games in the last two years).

However, it would take a real miracle for the Kings big man to win MVP. To be honest, I don't even think he's the best player on his own team (note: that player is Fox), let alone in the league (to be fair, Fox shouldn't win MVP either). So if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath and wait for it.

This goes without saying, but just because Sabonis isn't an MVP player doesn't mean he's not a great player or that the Kings can't have a successful season. After all, only one player can receive the Most Valuable Player in the League award.
