1 dead, 3 injured in accident on Opelika highway

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) – One man has died and three others were injured in a crash on Interstate 85 in Opelika.

Opelika police responded to the crash on I-85 North between exits 57 and 58 around 5:30 p.m. Thursday after reports of a collision between a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers said officers found the vehicle in a ditch with four occupants. A 19-year-old passenger was transported to East Alabama Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.

The other three occupants suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital. The two people in the tractor-trailer were uninjured, police said.
