Two men arrested, accused of attacking deputies in separate incidents

JOHNSTON COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has reported two deputies being attacked and injured in the last two weeks.

Johnston County Sheriff Gary Dodd said in both instances, deputies were injured by repeat offenders and helped by citizens who came to their aid.

In the first incident a deputy was checking on a man, Kevin Monjay, who was illegally walking on State Highway 1 south of Mill Creek School.

The deputy offered to give Monjay a ride, but he allegedly became belligerent and obstructed the deputy before trying to run.

When the deputy caught up with Monjay, the two got into a fight in the bar ditch of the highway, and several people stopped to check on the deputy.

Monjay, who is wanted out of Murray County, was taken to the Johnston County Jail, and the deputy was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

On Tuesday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies were called to a domestic dispute in the Rock Creek Trailer Park west of Tishomingo.

A deputy was trying to help a woman who was being attacked, which is when the sheriff’s office said the suspect, Jimmy Seymour, rushed the deputy and began to fight him.

The deputy deployed his taser, which had little effect on Seymour, but he was eventually detained.

Seymour was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries before being taken to the Johnston County Jail.

Both men are facing several charges including felony assault and battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
