Brynn Elliott releases new single + music video “Shiny Happy People”

Today (Friday October 25th) singer/songwriter Brynn Elliottbest known for her breakout song “Maybe don't like me” released the single and the accompanying music video for “Shiny happy peopleNow available on all streaming platforms. This is their first release since “Beautiful things” and a new direction that delves deeper into her own story surrounding faith, family, grief and love.

Atlanta/Nashville-born singer-songwriter Brynn Elliott's personable lyrics unfold a tale of foggy nostalgia, effortlessly combining warm and lush alt-pop vocals with cinematic production. Her hit song “Might Not Like Me” took her to #12 on Hot A/C Radio in 2018. She has toured with artists such as Brandi Carlile, OAR, Switchfoot, Allen Stone and Alanis Morrisette. After graduating from Harvard University with a degree in philosophy, Brynn is drawn to writing about the deepest experiences of human existence.

“Shiny Happy People is a song I wrote about the temptation to put on a strong face or have a positive attitude when a loved one dies,” says Elliott. “It's about how I learned through the process that allowing myself to be truly sad is good and healthy, and that that is actually a testament to the love I have experienced as my loved one was still alive.”

The incredibly beautiful video for the title was shot on location in New York. “This video is one of my favorite videos I've ever made. I love that the video tells the story, we made a little film! Aaron Craig, the director, completely understood my vision of showing that celebrating someone's death is actually a really uncomfortable and even a little scary thing. The use of silly props and confetti at the funeral really takes this to the extreme. And our leading lady Lillian Brown brought the rawness of the song so beautifully to the screen!”

On working with Nathan Chapman: “Working with Nathan on this song was a dream. I wrote the song myself and sent it to him to get some feedback and advice. He has been a very good friend to me over the years. And he wrote back and asked to produce the song. I wasn't expecting this, but I was SO happy that he wanted to be a part of it. His expertise is exactly what the song needed.

Elliott plans to release more new music soon and next plays the Bowery Vault in Nashville on November 18th.
