U.S. Marshalls are asking the public for help finding a West Virginia sex offender

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – The U.S. Marshals are offering a reward for a wanted West Virginia sex offender.

The U.S. Marshals Southern District of West Virginia's CUFFED Task Force is seeking the public's assistance in locating Gabriel Allen Hargus, 47, of Mineral Wells, for failing to register as a sex offender and violating his probation.

According to the U.S. Marshals, Hargus was convicted in February 2011 of possessing child pornography and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in Kanawha County.

Hargus is aware he is wanted and was last seen in El Paso, Texas, driving a silver 2016 Ford Focus with West Virginia license plate N3R908, officials said. He is 1.80 m tall, weighs 90 kg, has hazel eyes and brown hair and also goes by the name Ethan Stone.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to Hargus' arrest.

If anyone knows his whereabouts, call the USMS Tip Hotline at 1-877-WANTED-2 or the USMS Southern District of West Virginia at 304-347-5136. Tips can also be submitted online at www.usmarshals.gov.

All tips will be treated confidentially, officials said.
