Halifax Regional Police have confirmed that the victim's body was discovered in a walk-in oven.

According to a GoFundMeKaur, who came to Canada with big dreams, has been working with her mother at Walmart for the past two years.
On the evening of the incident, like any vigilant mother, she tried to find her after not seeing anything for an hour. She continued to ask people about her daughter's whereabouts, but everyone dismissed it and thought that maybe she was somewhere helping a customer, Walmart is a supermarket after all! Her phone was unreachable.
According to the website, Gursimran's father and brother are in India and communities are trying to get them here as quickly as possible. “The suffering of this family is unimaginable and indescribable. She needs your support to get through this terrible time,” the website says.
The Maritime Sikh Society has organized psychological counseling for those affected and launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for funeral costs and to bring family members from India for the last rites. The campaign exceeded its $50,000 goal in just 10 hours and has raised nearly $188,975 as of Friday morning (local time).
The investigation into Kaur's death is ongoing and involves police, the provincial labor department and the coroner's office. First responders were called to the store around 9:30 p.m. last Saturday to report a “sudden death,” and the store has remained closed since then, Global News reported.
Police are still trying to determine the cause and manner of the young woman's death and have warned the public not to spread rumors, particularly on social media, as the story gains national and global attention.
The provincial labor department has issued a stop-work order for the bakery and “one piece of equipment” at the Walmart store. Walk-in ovens, often found in large-scale bakeries such as supermarkets and big box stores, allow curing, drying, or baking in batches using racks or wheeled carts.
Walmart Canada has expressed its sorrow over the incident and has directed any further questions to police. The company is offering 24/7 virtual care and grief counseling to its employees and has confirmed that employees will continue to be paid for their shifts while the store is closed. However, if the store remains closed for an extended period, the company will consider “alternative work arrangements” for its employees.
