Ogden Police Academy Officer Arrested for Sexual Exploitation of Minors

An Ogden police school resource officer was arrested on multiple charges, including sexual exploitation of a minor.

Officials said the department learned on Oct. 16 that 55-year-old Colton Johansen had provided information to another law enforcement agency that “implied his involvement in criminal contacts.”

After learning of the situation, officers opened a criminal case and referred it to the Davis County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said officers arrested Johansen Thursday afternoon on multiple charges, including sexual exploitation of a minor, tampering with evidence and abuse of office.

Details of the investigation were not disclosed.

Johansen was listed as an inmate at the Davis County Jail.

Officials with the Ogden Police Department said they have also launched an internal investigation into the situation.

“Based on the information currently available, the conduct in question did not occur while Officer Johansen was acting in his capacity as a School Resource Officer,” said a statement released Thursday evening.

They said their investigation contained enough information to justify Johansen's termination.

“The Ogden Police Department remains committed to maintaining the public’s trust,” the statement said. “We are committed to complete transparency and ensuring that the community we serve can continue to rely on the professionalism and ethical behavior of its employees.”
