Repeat Middletown drug dealer pleads guilty – The Warwick Valley Dispatch

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Rahyim Woodson, 39, of Orange, New Jersey, pleaded guilty in Orange County Court to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. The plea represents Woodson's second felony drug conviction. Under the agreement entered into the record at the time Woodson pleaded guilty, he faces up to seven (7) years in prison, followed by three (3) years of post-trial supervision Released when sentenced on December 3, 2024.

The charges against Woodson stemmed from a long-term investigation into the possession and sale of narcotics in and around the city of Middletown. As alleged in filings and statements made in court, Woodson sold large quantities of narcotics to undercover police officers in the City of Middletown on six (6) occasions during the summer of 2022. The narcotics were tested in a forensic laboratory, which confirmed the presence of cocaine and/or fentanyl or heroin. In the lawsuit, Woodson admitted to knowingly and unlawfully selling a narcotic.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the Middletown Police Department for their investigation that led to Woodson's arrest.

“Long-term drug investigations uncover the significant drug traffickers driving the drug trade in our communities,” said District Attorney Hoovler. “These recidivists pose the greatest risk of death and their operations must be dismantled through arrest, prosecution and incarceration.” We will continue to work with law enforcement agencies whose dedicated investigators walk the fine line between these criminals and a safe neighborhood. Drug dealers should be warned in advance that Orange County will not tolerate their dangerous actions.”

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Janine Kovacs.

A criminal complaint is simply an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of criminal law and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, although it is the responsibility of the State of New York to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
