New Samsung leak reveals powerful specifications for the Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung's Galaxy S flagship smartphones have always brought a considerable amount of power to the Android world, although the community has always questioned the mix of Samsung's Exynos chipsets and Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets across the lineup and wondered which variant Samsung will choose for the S25 family, including the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Ultra.

For the S25 family, due to launch early next year, this concern may not be necessary. The Snapdragon chipset has been very popular in the Samsung community for many years. It's also a productive partnership with Qualcomm, which provided Samsung with an improved Snapdragon chipset for the Galaxy S24 Ultra last year.

Well-known industry observer @IceUniverse reports that next year's Galaxy S25 phones will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite across the board; “The Samsung Galaxy S25 series uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Not the Exynos 2500 and the Dimensity 9400.”

A new Snapdragon for the Galaxy S25 Ultra

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite this week, promising the fastest mobile CPU in the world. Several partners were named in the presentation, including Samsung.

“This platform introduces industry-leading technologies such as the bespoke second-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Qualcomm Adreno GPU and enhanced Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, all delivering breakthrough performance improvements.”

In recent years, the Samsung community has been disappointed that the Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets run in the same phones depending on the territory in which they were purchased. This highlighted the clear differences between the two; Snapdragon chipsets offer more performance while the Exynos chipsets offer longer battery life. The online consensus favors the use of the Snapdragon due to its higher performance in gaming and better mastery of multitasking.

Samsung has unified the chipsets of Galaxy S phones in a few years – the Galaxy S23 family of 2023 was the last time this was the case – and if this turns out to be the case with the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra is the case, then Samsung's decision to join Qualcomm for all of its smartphones will be enthusiastically received by its supporters.
