How to beat the final boss fight in Silent Hill 2 Remake

The final boss fight of Silent Hill 2 Remake is located at the end of the Otherworld version of the Lakeview Hotel. After defeating the Double Pyramid Heads and hearing Mary's dialogue, head up the stairs until you reach a large open room where a woman who looks like Mary is standing at the window. If you get the “Maria” ending, this will be Mary, but for all other endings that include this boss fight, it will be Maria disguised as James' late wife. If James rejects either Mary or Maria, they transform into the same monster while she is trapped in a bed frame and suspended upside down in the air.

This fight consists of several different phases. Right from the start of the fight, Mary/Maria uses hordes of moths flying around as her main form of attack. Be careful when moths clump together and form a ball! They will start walking towards you. As they approach, they will briefly flash red and then explode to damage James. You can either hit this bullet or dodge the explosion to avoid the attack. While dodging this attack, just keep attacking the boss until you start using the large vine coming out of her back as a weapon.

Mary/Maria will begin making a series of horizontal movements with the vine, even attempting to wrap it around James' neck. Stay as far away as possible as she can teleport around the area. If she comes close, just dodge and get out of here. Also be careful of the moths as they will still be flying around the area trying to attack you.

If you do enough damage to the boss, the bed frame will begin to fall apart and you will both end up in a dark hallway. She begins to take on similar characteristics to the Flesh Lip boss fight at the start of the game. She runs along the ceiling of the area, so you can only get a quick glimpse of her through broken bars. In the meantime, the moths will still try to track you down and explode, although they are much more dangerous down here as they can ambush you from the darkness. She will perch sporadically and attempt to attack you with her vine. Use this time to use your strongest weapons like the shotgun and hunting rifle to deal damage to her. If you do enough damage you will advance to the final stage.

Mary/Maria returns to a boss arena more similar to the first area. She will now use the frame as long legs, allowing her to run around the area and perform massive swings. She can also do short-range quick attack attacks if you're trying to keep your distance while using the moth attack. Since this is the end of the game, I suggest avoiding attacks and pouring remaining ammo into the boss until it is defeated.

When her health reaches zero, she will fall to the ground and you will have to deliver one final blow to end the fight and the game. Defeating this boss unlocks the “This Part of Me” trophy and achievement and starts the ending sequence.
