We tried Jimmy John's Picklewich, a sandwich made with pickles instead of bread

Cucumber lovers have lunch plans for the foreseeable future.

Jimmy John's unveiled its newest menu item, the Picklewich, on October 24th. As the name suggests, it contains typical sub-ingredients sandwiched between a giant dill pickle instead of bread.

The Picklewich will be available nationwide from October 28th to November 14th in two variations, stuffed inside a hollowed-out pickle. The Vito Picklewich contains salami, capocollo, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, and oil and vinegar (like Jimmy John's classic Vito sandwich) to create an Italian sub experience in a pickle. The Turkey Picklewich layers some of the same toppings (lettuce, tomato and onion) with turkey and provolone.

PEOPLE's staff got an early taste of the picklewich options, and everyone agreed that they're the real dill for true pickle fanatics.

The Picklewich comes in two versions: Vito and Turkey.

Both picklewich versions are very, well, picky. Each bite is about half cucumber and half meat and cheese—sometimes even containing more cucumber as a topping. The creaminess of the provolone was a nice balance to the salty punch from the cucumber in both the turkey and vito. Testers say: If you love meat, you should choose the Vito.

The staff found that the picklewich variations were much lighter than a typical sandwich, leaving testers ready to get through the rest of the afternoon, while a regular sub could lead to a nap. The food also made for good leftovers. Soggyness is obsolete because there is no bread or absorbent toppings, which are made less crispy by the pickle juice.

Jimmy John is a partner of Jersey Shoreis Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who also shared her review with PEOPLE.

“I tried everything, pickle chips, treats, you name it. I was even a Pickle Princess for Halloween one year!” she says. “But I had never had a cucumber sandwich before and I became obsessed with it. Trust me as a pickle expert, the new Jimmy John’s Picklewich lives up to the hype.”

In addition to the picklewich options, Jimmy John's sells pickle-flavored potato chips to go with the sandwiches.

Customers can score a half-price picklewich on November 3rd for National Sandwich Day. Reward members simply need to purchase any 8-inch sandwich to receive the offer.

Burger King and Hidden Valley Ranch collaborate on Big Dip cups.

Hidden Valley Ranch

More crazy fast food news: Burger King and Hidden Valley Ranch have teamed up to sell “Big Dip” cups of ranch fare on October 16th.

The creative concept is a wide 8-ounce Hidden Valley Ranch cup—eight times the size of BK's typical sauce container. The large cups are intended for dipping Whoppers and can be ordered with the purchase of a BK sandwich at no additional cost in some states. (BK has a tracker to check availability.)

They're only available while supplies last — but the full-size Hidden Valley Ranch cups are “here to stay,” the press release says.
